David McDaniel USPTO

 
David A. McDaniel is the Program Manager for the Facilitation Services Prime Contractor at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) , Cybersecurity Division. He is responsible for facilitating the Security Authorization Process, achieving, and maintaining Authorization To Operate (ATO) for the USPTO's information systems. In addition, the adoption of the Risk Management Framework (RMF) methodology has created a seamless integration of information security into the organizational business processes. MLS was instrumental in the planning and implementation of this methodology. As a result, USPTO is the only organizational unit working under the Department of Commerce now effectively managing their systems following the RMF methodology in a near real-time risk management approach.
 
Mr. McDaniel is currently leading an effort to leverage best of breed technology to improve the automation and effectiveness of the RMF continuous monitoring of the USPTO enterprise. This effort introduces the next level for USPTO Cybersecurity Division in its effort to provide the most efficiency in governance, risk management and compliance.
 
Mr. McDaniel has over 20 years in the Information Technology industry; particularly in the areas of network security, information security, incident response, disaster recovery, PCI-DSS compliance, governance and policy. Mr. McDaniel has led technical teams of various sizes supporting fortune 100 companies and federal agencies.
 
Mr. McDaniel holds a B.S. Degree in Computer networking and a Master's Degree in Business Administration. He is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), and is also Certified in Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL).
